Funny!!!

Kids do the darndest things.

My parents watched Malcom on Saturday so that Josh and I could go to dinner and a movie. My dad was cleaning out his sock drawer and would give Malcom a pair and tell him to throw it in the garbage, he would run from the bedroom to the kitchen and throw it in the garbage and come back. Dad then gave him another pair and told him just to throw it in the batroom garbage and Malcom looks and finally spotted it and threw it away, so Dad gave him some more to do the same.

A few hours go by and Mom and Dad went back to change and just laughed. He had thrown them all in the toilet. I cannot believe it, he is a little stinker that has been obsessed with flushing the toilet, I have to watch him so close because of it.

Witches Festival

Well Monday night we went to the Witches Festival at Gardner Village. We had so much fun, the kids had their faces painted, we took pictures, went on the hay ride to see the witches (they were so much fun), we ran through the hay maze and even got to ride the ponies. It was actually quite warm and the kids had a blast.

Catch up!!

Warning, Long Post!!

Well it has been a little bit since I have done an update, so here it is. Life has been completely crazy, I have been working crazy hours at work since they have changed my job role, I have gone from being Accounts Payable to being Human Resource Manager / Payroll. Learning a new job plus training on my old job has been hectic. At least things are beginning to calm down a little bit, I know there is a lot more to learn, but at least I feel like my head is at least above water.

I just have to post this picture first, my cousin Kim took it at my Grandparents 60th anniversary and I just love it!!!! Thanks Kim for sending it to me.

A few months ago Josh and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary, it doesn't feel like it has been that long, but I guess that is a good thing. We decided to use the time to do a little family "staycation." It was fun we spent a couple of nights in a hotel here locally so that we could at least save on some gas money and we got a good deal on a hotel. We took Malcom to the Living Planet Aquarium on one day. He loved it, I don't know if he realized that something was in the tanks, but he loved getting up and looking in them, he would get so mad when we tried to move on. Then the next day we went to the Dinasaur Museum in Ogden. It was fun, but it was sooooo hot, Malcom had the best fun feeding the fish and birds, he was so mad when we said it was time to go.

For the 24th, we got together with Josh's family and had a barbeque, went swimming and did fireworks. For the swimming, we have had such a hard time getting Malcom to play in the pool, he loves baths and plays for hours, but everytime we go to the pool he gets so scared, so we broke down and bought a swimsuit that has the built in foam to help him float, and he loves to swim, he loved that he could be away from mom and dad holding him, he even learned to move himself a little bit.

The last week in July, we went back up to Ogden to the Gathering of the Guard. Josh's mom and dad are involved in the Patriot Guard Riders, this is a group of Bikers that when invited by the family of a soldier that has been killed the hold flags in a line on the route from the funeral to the gravesite. This was started when the funerals were being protested and the families had to hear and see all sorts of negative things about their loved ones. Well the Gathering of the Guard is their yearly convention and his parents were heavily involved in the planning and so we went up to support them. It was so fun to visit with all the members and have a weekend with his family.

On the first day, there was a soldier killed and his family was attending the gathering. In Utah when a soldier is killed and they have young children, Build a Bear donates bears for the children, when they heard of this family they did the same thing and some friend of the family took them back home. Before they left, everyone gave them hugs to fill them with love. (This is Christa, Josh's brother Riley's wife)

Malcom had to have his turn as well.

They had mascots there to raise money by having pictured taken, and Grisbee got a hold of Josh's head. Malcom thought it was so funny.

August has thankfully been a little slower and a little more uneventful, but last week was a big doosy, It all started on Memorial Day. We have had a problem with our battub turning itself on at random times, we would come home from work and have it running full blast, so we decided we need to see if we could fix it. Anyone we told the problem to seemed to agree that we needed to replace the valve. Well we decided to have this be a project for Josh's day off. Well then we got the call that Josh's grandma had a stroke and that she most likely would not survive the night. Well she died Tuesday morning. Josh had a hard time with it because he had not seen her since we got married. She was put in a home because she had Alsheimers and was deterioting and he didn't want to go visit when she didn't know who he was, so he wouldn't go.

On Wednesday he tried to fix the valve and couldn't so I called my Grandpa for help, he came to look at it and said the whole thing needed to be replaced and we couldn't do it until we got a new fixture, adn we couldn't do that until Friday and we couldn't turn on the water till it was fixed. Thank heavens for family, I was at my limit everything made me cry and I didn't know what to do, so we packed up a few days necessities and went to my mom's until Friday when Josh was able to fix the pipes. I am so proud of him, he was able to do it by himself. Now all we have to do is replace the tiles.

On Saturday we went to Josh's grandma's funeral, it was very nice to see all the family again, it was just sad that it had to be on such a sad occasion. Well we can now hope that thing will calm down a little bit, I just want some peace and quiet, I have had too much excitement for one year.

Well it has been a while since I have given an update. Things are hectic, especially with the warmer wheather, I cannot keep Malcom in the house. He loves to play outside and gets so mad at me when he has to come inside. Josh is still working at Henderson and transferred to the Kearns store a little while ago, the only downside to the transfer is he has to work saturdays. I a still doing accounting for construction companies, I enjoy what I am doung and who I work with, I only wish that I didn't have to work full time so that I can spend more time with Malcom, but you do what you have to. We are just lucky that Grandma, Aunt Heather and Aunt Brenda are there to help. Thank you guys sooooooo very much, I don't know what I would do without you.

For church callings, I am the one that seems to be the busy one, I am still teaching primary. I love the kids, but I have the six year olds and they are all very roudy, we struggle. They just released my companion so I get them all by myself. Fun!!! Josh right now teaches one sunday a month in elders quorum. Malcom is starting the transition to nursery, he does ok as long as dad is not the one to take him. He is such the daddy's boy. If Josh leaves at any point he throws such a temper tantrum. It is to the point that he calls me dad!

Malcom is growing so big, he is such a funny kid. He walks around the house and if he sees a stuffed animal he calls it Daisy after Grandma's dog. He even calls the cats at Grandma Morrill's Daisy. He also loves the cell phone and he will open it say "Hello" then babble and say "Bye", he then closes the phone with his cheek. He is climbing everything, I swear that he looks like we beat him because he keeps falling off of everything, at Grandma's he climbs on the table and then tries to get down and misses the bench. When he does fall, he cries and cries and then turns around and does it again. I am at my wits end and don't know how to get him to stop, he laughs when you say no and does it anyway!

A few weeks ago we took him to the pak and just let him play, he had so much fun and he slept so good that night. Here are a few pics.

New Year's Eve

This year was our year to go to the hotel for New Year's Eve. It was such fun. Of course the one stipulation is that the hotel has to have a functioning pool. We had a hard time finding that this year, a lot of the pools were under construction. We did find one however and had a blast. Thanks to everyone, we had a blast!!!

InstaCare

Well we made our first trip to InstaCare this week. Malcom got mad at Grandma Terry's house and threw himself forward and ht his head on the entertainment center. Well needless to say he cut his head open. Luckily they were able to just glue the cut closed. He did really well and was back to himself torturing grandma the rest of the day.

Crazy Time!!!

Well it has been crazy with getting through Thanksgiving and now Christmas. It doesn't help that it is year end at work and that makes even more busy. Well enough of that, time to catch up. Malcom is still going strong, he is into everything and is a challenge in that way, I have to constantly close doors or cabints. I put child locks on the cabinets and he has now learned that he can turn the knob and get it off! We are really blessed in other ways, he goes to bed so well, if he is not in bed by 7:00 at night he is a holy terror. It is nice having a child that begs to go to bed.

We had to transition to a toddler bed, he discovered that he could climb on the hamper and out of his crib. He was so excited to have the new bed because he can climb in and out when he wants. The other day we went into his room and this is what we found!

He is such a cute stincker.

Just after Thanksgiving Brett and Caroline had their baby Patrick Steven Terry. He is so cute and it is fun to have a new little one in the family.

Christmas came quick this year and was crazy, Malcom was cute, every time that he ripped the paper he would laugh. It was fun having him old enough to actually open the gifts.

The saturday after Christmas we had the Porter-Crotts Reunion (Josh's mom's family). We went to Alpine and had dinner and learned some information about family members. It was fun to have the family together. Before we left we took a picture of Grandpa Port and 6 of the 9 great-grandkids that were there.

Finally the best we are gonna get.

Malcom's Birthday

MALCOM IS ONE YEAR OLD!!!!

On Friday October 17th, we went to Cove Fort with Grandpa and Grandma Rowley. We had so much fun and learned a lot about the family. Mom and her foster kids, Heather and her kids, Brenda and Mike with their kids, Stephanie and her kids, Tami Jo and her kids, Angie and her kids and grandma and grandpa all went. There were 32 of us all together. We met and drove down together had lunch and then went on a tour. It was interesting to hear the history and then hearing the stories of Nicholas Paul who helped build the Fort. I hope that we can go again with grandpa when Malcom is older so that he can hear the history from grandpa as well.

I want to thank Grandpa and Grandma for going with us and sharing this history. Here are some pics from the day.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

The other day Malcom came crawling into my room with this hat that Grandma Rowley made for him. I had it put in a box to go into storage because it was getting too small for him. He came to me and was trying to put it on and so I did and this is what he looked like. He was so cute and so I snapped some pictures.

I love this shot. Brenda (my sister) went for a drive up Butterfield Canyon and caught this picture. I can't believe that Malcom will be 1 next week. Time flies so fast and he is such big boy now. I am so blessed because he is so easy, he has been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old, he hardly ever cries, although he does have a temper and lets you know when he is mad. He weened himself off his binky and is now doing the same with his bottle. I know that when we have another child, Iam realy in for it because they are going to be like me.

Well there is my quick update for now.

I FINALLY DID IT!!!!

Well I have been wanting to cut my hair for such a long time. It never did what I wanted it to do and ended up being a fuzz ball all the time. Josh finally consented to let me cut it short and I did. Here are some shots.

Healing Field

Well Thursday September 11th, we went with Josh's mom and dad to the Healing Field in Sandy. It was fun to go and be with family, but it was very somber to be there. The flags were beautiful and the ceremony was touching. For those who don't know, the Healing Field was started as a tribute to the 9/11 attacks and has grown to pay tribute to the troops as well. I used to work for the Healing Field and grew very attached to the project. Through my experiences, I have grown very patriotic and Josh being born on the 4th of July is naturally patriotic. We want to raise Malcom with that same patriotism and so we found a great opprtunity in going to the Healing Field.

If you get a chance to attend the Healing Field, you will not be sorry, you will be touched by the display of our nations flag. The Healing Field in Sandy will be up until Monday September 15th, so I encourage anyone who can to go and attend.

Here are some pics from our time at the field.

Update Time

Thought I would update a little on what is going on.

Malcom is almost 1 year old now is becoming such a tank and is growing by leaps and bounds. He is walking around furniture like crazy. It's all he wants to do. I am just waiting for him to take off and walk, and when he does I am in so much trouble. He is getting into everything, especially cupboards and drawers. We have to create mazes to block him from everything he can get into.

Josh is playing soccer still with his brother. They don't win a ton of games, but they have fun and he enjoys it.

We are so blessed with Malcom. He is such a joy and always brings a smile to our faces. Here are a few pics of how he is growing.

Gage and Malcom playing and getting into trouble as usual.

Bathtime fun!

Grandpa Port

Grandpa Porter

On July 26 We had a medal Ceremony for Josh's Grandpa Porter. He was a sailor in WWII and in process of trying to get him a rank advancement he should have had, we found some medals that he was awarded. We suprised him by having the Patriot Guard Riders ( a group of motorcyclists that welcome troops home and hold flag lines at troops funerals) come and stand in their flag line and present the medals to him. This was a fun, and emotional night and we loved being there to show support to grandpa and to celebrate his service.

Morrill Family Reunion

This last weekend we went down to the Morrill Family Reunion. Josh's family has quite a bit of land outside of Capitol Reef. We had a lot of fun, when we weren't roasting. Whoever thought that the end of June in Southern Utah was a great time to have a reunion was crazy. We left Thursday night after work and got there about 11:00 at night. Setting up the tent was so much fun in the dark! (Sarcasm if you couldn't tell.) At about 1:00 we finally got to sleep, but Malcom has a built in alarm clock for 6:30 every morning.
Here are some pics from the weekend.
Here we all are roasting Marshmellows around the fire.
Malcom and Gage playing in the playpen, they wanted out so bad, if you couldn't tell
As we were packing up to come home, Grandma got Malcom to go down for his nap.

AliRose and Jesicca playing on Grandpa's Motorcycle. Two of the cutest biker chicks you'll see.
Sunday before we headed home we took a drive down to the falls in Capitol Reef and everyone had fun playing in the water.
AliRose and Grandpa Malcom and Daddy Cami and Gage

Malcom Really loved the water, he got mad when I took him out.
As we stopped in Nephi Malcom was restless and hungry. He played with the steering wheel until he saw his bottle and then that was it. As he eats he always has to hold his woobie, but when that is unavailable, his shirt suffices.
